Second Honeymoons…

My husband and I have talked about renewing our vows. We missed out doing it on our 10-year anniversary. So I thought about doing it on our 20th wedding anniversary. Yet, that seems to far away. So if we decide to do it sooner, we could renew our vows on our 15th anniversary. Then I had the dilemma of where to do it.

My husband and I got married in Gatlinburg, TN, in a beautiful wedding chapel, with just our best friends, almost eleven years ago. It was a private ceremony, with a weekend honeymoon in a cabin. Don’t get me wrong, it was very nice. We had a wonderful time. But we really wished we could have been afforded the time to take a nice honeymoon.

So I was thinking we could do a destination wedding. It would be nice to get married on a beach in Hawaii or the Bahamas with family and friends there. I found a site to get unique groomsmen gifts, and I know exactly what I would want to get my bridesmaids.

However, I’m not sure how feasible it would be to get everyone to a destination wedding.

Maybe we could just skip the vow renewals altogether and just take a second honeymoon. Okay, I think for our 15th wedding anniversary we should do just that. Cody will be old enough that I wouldn’t worry about leaving him for a week.

Well, I think I’ve just talked myself into it. Tee-hee.

Have you or have you ever thought about doing a destination wedding? If so, where would you like to do it?

Oh that photo looks so inviting, I would be happy with a first honeymoon. My husband and I have been married 14 1/2 years but we have never been on a honeymoon.

  2. I had never really thought about doing a destination wedding till I toured a resort in the Riviera Maya this past summer — it was AMAZING and their wedding packages were fantastic. I would TOTALLY do something like that now.

Our honeymoon was at a beach cottage in the fall, and we only spent one night without a child with us…but it was still wonderful. I wanted to renew our vows at 10 years…but that came really fast!

We honeymooned in Gatlinburg and planned to do a tropical all-inclusive for our 10th anniversary. Didn’t plan on being 9 months pregnant on our 10th anniversary though! Maybe for #15.

I would have loved to go to Italy for my wedding but it wasn’t in the budget. We never went on a honeymoon either but we hope to someday. It’s been 3 years so I guess it would just be called a vacation at this point!

  18. I would also love a second honeymoon. I doubt it will happen anytime soon for us, maybe our 20th in 4 years!
