A Tampa woman who was given only a year to live four years ago defied the odds and celebrated another victory – she and her fiancee won a $100,000 dream wedding according to this Associated Press article.
This story made my day…my week. This is definitely a feel good story full of hope for anyone diagnosed with cancer.
Courtney Dempsey, 33 and Gary Courtney, 37, were among 40,000 couples entered in the US Magazine's wedding contest.
Dempsey was diagnosed with late-stage melanoma four years ago and was given less than a year to live. Happily she survived beyond that and began dating Courtney. And then soon after, doctors said she needed a double mastectomy.
He asked her to move in with him so he could help her recover (a good sign he was husband material). The wedding date is set for September.
In the article, it says Dempsey plans on following tradition and will take her groom's name. Meaning she will go by Courtney Courtney.
She says, "I'm in sales. No one will ever forget my name."
It sounds like she has such a great attitude! Congratulations Courtney!
I hope you find this story as uplifting as I do. I think we could all use a little inspiration in our day. If you have an inspirational story or inspiring thought, share it with us. Hope to hear from you. Enjoy life!!!
