I remember thinking when I was younger that it would be great to have a multiple birth. So easy. What I mean by easy is, if you wanted to have more than one child, you could have, say, twins, and be done with it. No more pregnancies. Like a two for one deal.
Twins with one a boy and the other a girl would be perfect.
Fast forward a number of years… I was 38 years old when I had my son, and a lot of people “helpfully” shared with me comments like, “You know when a woman has her first child when she’s ‘older’, there’s a bigger chance of multiples.” Maybe because I was “older”, the thought of having a multiple birth scared me.
I mean at my age, having two or more babies to take care of… shew!
I gained weight quickly, too. All belly. My belly was HUGE, I tell ya.
Before having my first ultrasound I think I’d convinced myself I was going to have twins. Then when I had the ultrasound and learned that there was only one, I was a little disappointed. As I just mentioned about my huge belly, I had people asking me if I was having twins, all the way up till the end.
Things work out the way they’re suppose to, I believe, so I’m thrilled with just my son. I wasn’t able to have anymore, so an only child we shall always have. And it works for us. But sometimes I’m a little envious of those with multiples. I’m also glad that the Little Me Multiple Birth Program is available to those parents of multiples.
