There’s nothing to cheer about in a Texas high school when a clique of cheerleaders takes over the campus in this TV-movie. The Lifetime ‘Fab 5: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal’ lead by the principal’s daughter (Ashley Benson), the wealthy and spoiled ‘Fab 5’ do as they please until a young idealistic teacher (Jenna Dewan) seeks to put an end to their disruptive and self-destructive behavior by reporting the scandalous conduct to the media. Tatum O’Neal also stars in this adaptation of a true story.
The story is based on cheerleaders from McKinney North High School in Texas, however, the school McKinney North High School is never mentioned in the movie.
This tale of teen tantrums, girls gone wild and brats without boundaries could take place anywhere. And I bet Texas wishes it WERE somewhere else.
To recap the real story: Ms. Ward told the media in October 2006 that she resigned as cheerleading coach because administrators stymied her efforts to discipline her unruly charges, specifically a group of seniors known as the “Fab Five”, according to DallasNews.com.
