Chimichurri Plant-Based Protein Sandwich at McAlister’s Deli

I recently stopped by my local McAlister’s Deli and ordered their new Chimichurri sandwich. More specifically, I tried the Chimichurri Plant-Based Protein sandwich. And if I had not known it was a plant-based protein sandwich, I would never have known it wasn’t meat! Never.

The plant-based Chimichurri sandwich is perfect for a flexitarian (someone who doesn’t practice a specific eating style) like me. I’m not alone either since studies show that about 1/3 of Americans consider themselves flexitarians.

And why should we have to compromise on flavor when we want to cut down on meat consumption? I eat a high-protein diet but I don’t want to always eat meat, especially on sandwiches, just to get the protein. Did I mention this sandwich is delicious?

The Chimichurri sandwich is a great option. It is packed full of flavor and so satisfying.

By staying ahead of the food trends, McAlister’s Deli offers its customers the food they want — always augmenting their menu to provide fresh, innovative menu choices the whole family will enjoy.

That’s why they are offering the new Chimichurri Sandwich option in select Chicago, IL and Knoxville, TN restaurants as a test through March 26. Try out this plant-based protein sandwich or if you want to they also offer roast beef or chicken too. Don’t wait!

What’s on this delicious new menu item…

  • Chimichurri marinated protein
  • Balsamic onions
  • Provolone cheese
  • Chimichurri aioli
  • Tomato
  • Spring mix
  • On a toasted ciabatta

And if you want meat as your protein source, you can get the Chimichurri with chicken or roast beef. I can’t wait to try both.

Oh, and speaking of chicken, the plant-based Chimichurri tastes like… chicken.

We love eating at McAlister’s Deli and having eight restaurants in Knoxville we can always find one conveniently located. It’s nice to have delicious food fast at a casual restaurant. There are plenty of choices on the menu for everyone in the family, even picky eaters.
