My Most Embarrassing Moment

Today’s topic in the “30 Things I Want My Son To Know About Me” is, “Describe you most embarrassing moment.”

Describe your most embarrassing moment

I have had a lot of embarrassing moments. Although, I do NOT embarrass easily, especially when I was younger. It’s a gift, not getting embarrassed easily. It really is. One I wish I still possessed. I was more care-free and didn’t care what anyone thought of me. I have always been able to laugh at myself.

Don’ t get me wrong, I still have it, it’s just not as strong as it once was. Luckily I still have the ability to laugh at myself. Now that IS a gift.

Okay, for the most embarrassing moment….

When I was around twenty I shared an apartment with a friend of mine and we had several friends over (it wasn’t a party, because we had a bunch of friends at our apartment almost nightly, especially during the summer) one night.

My best friend Robin and her boyfriend at that time (who was also a dear friend of mine) were there and whenever Robin and I were/are together, there is guaranteed laughter.

On this particular night (and by the way, there was no drinking, and was rarely any drinking of alcohol in any apartment I lived in) there were friends scattered out in the living room, kitchen and out on the front porch. We had a porch swing that my friend Robin and her boyfriend were sitting in it. It was a beautiful warm night.

I remember distinctly that I had on a red mini skirt. It wasn’t tight, it kind of flared out. If I were to spin around it would have twirled with me. Does that make sense?

Why am I describing the skirt I was wearing 30 years ago you ask? Ah, trust me, the skirt played a big part in my most embarrassing moment….

I went to the bathroom. A normal mundane thing. I walked out of the bathroom and pranced right through the living room full of people and went out the front door. Where within seconds my friend Robin, started laughing so hard I thought she was going to lose her breath.

She had her head down in the porch swing laughing her butt off. Which is exactly what she was laughing at… my butt.

I had walked out of the bathroom with the back of my skirt stuck in my panties, show my backside for all to see. It was made funnier, I guess, because I was just so prissy. Now, I don’t think I was being prissy, but I think that is the tale that was told about that night.

Oh, I laughed right along with Robin, IT was funny. And truth be told, I really wasn’t that embarrassed, but of all the things I have done that were embarrassing in my life, that one sticks out the most. I am very thankful there wasn’t cell phones back then, though. Now that, would have been embarrassing.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

  1. My most embarrassing moment is somewhat similiar, yet it was when I was in middle school. I was walking and talking to a friend while we were both on our way to gym class. Not paying any attention to where I was going, my belt loop of my jeans somehow got caught on a door hinge and ripped my jeans all the way down, exposing my underwear to a group of students that were waiting in line for math class. Needless to say, I went home that day. I probably didn’t go to school for a few days after that to be perfectly honest. 😀

  2. I’ve done plenty of embarrassing stuff, but nothing really sticks out.

  3. LOL…we were very blessed not to have cell phones and social media during our younger days! That would have gone viral for sure.

  4. I’m super clumsy, so I trip over things a LOT! So, that’s pretty embarrassing as people are always asking me if I’m okay lol.

  5. I wish I had your gene!!! LOL at least you were with good friends would have been worse if you were waking out of a restaurant bathroom into a sea of strangers.

  6. Girl, yes, I’ve had a lot of embarrassing moments!! I don’t know why I’m so clumsy as well.

  7. Well, I’m glad it wasn’t THAT embarrassing and that you had a good laugh. I can’t think of any since I embarrass myself quite often 😛

  8. That would really be embarrassing! It’d be more embarrassing now than when I was younger and tighter, etc. This morning I walked into the hotel restaurant, ate at the buffet and realized that I had tissue paper with blood on it still stuck to a razor nick from the shower on my ankle. Nice….

  9. I’ve had that happen at least 2 or 3 times…I’m the queen of embarrassing moments. I was on Jones Beach one year, where there are thousands of people every day, and lost my entire (top and bottom) bikini in the water- and didn’t realize it. The waves were so strong that the ties on my string bikini all untied, and I couldn’t figure out why I saw men hi fiving each other and one starting to tape me with his camcorder, until I saw black sea weed floating by…oh, no, not seaweed, my BIKINI BOTTOM! That was an awful, awful day.

  10. What a fun story and I am sure your son will appreciate this share someday. I definitely embarrass easily!

  11. Oh my that is funny! Mine that sticks out to me was something that happened my Jr. year of college. I was MC’ing an event with a fellow classmate but due to the procrastination of the writers, I was given my script minutes before the event preventing me from practicing at all. Every line I said came off flat. I was humiliated and if it wasn’t for the fact that my fellow classmate was good at adding lib, the whole thing would have been more disastrous. I still shake my head because even though it wasn’t completely my fault, it was my fault in how I delivered it. 🙁

  12. Hahaha too funny! That is something I have always feared, luckily the only time I had that happen I was at home and my husband saw. Thank goodness I didn’t leave the house like that, lol!!!

  13. LOL, too funny! I would have been mortified 🙂

  14. Haha. We have all had embarrassing moments!
