One of my favorite things about Christmas, is watching the Christmas movies and holiday specials. Tonight on the Hallmark Channel you can watch the much anticipated Hallmark Original Christmas movie… Christmas in Canaan.
Christmas in Canaan stars a favorite of mine (for several reasons – but one main reason is he is from the same general area that I am from) Billy Ray Cyrus. As I’ve said many times before, the Hallmark Channel always shows the best family movies. And I don’t think Canaan will disappoint. Especially since many kids and teens are familiar with Miley Cyrus’ dad… they may even want to tune in. I think many lessons can be learned from Christmas In Canaan. From Hallmark.com – About ‘Christmas In Canaan,
In the rising heat of the Civil Rights Movement, Daniel Burton a widowed farmer struggling to make ends meet, forces his young son, DJ, who has begun to show racist tendencies, to spend time with his black classmate, Rodney, leading to an unexpected friendship. As the years pass and racial tensions in their town build, an unforgettable Christmas will teach the boys the importance of hope and the true meaning of family. Based on a novel co-written by Kenny Rogers. Stars Billy Ray Cyrus, Zak Ludwig, and Jaishon Fisher.
Oh, and be sure to check out Billy Ray’s new video ‘We’ll Get By Somehow’ for Christmas in Canaan. Billy Ray Cyrus will spending much of the holiday in Iraq, by the way. This make me love him even more. I saw him on something earlier this week talking about the sacrifice our men and women make in the military that keep them away from their loved ones during the holidays… so it’s the least he can do. Ah, Billy Ray.
I know I’ll be curled up with my hot cocoa and popcorn watching Christmas In Canaan tonight. So don’t miss Christmas In Canaan tonight, December 12, 2009 at 8:00 pm EST.
