Season 8 American Idol ‘Earth Day’ result show will see two of the Idol contestants go home. Idol judge Paula Abdul worked with the contestants on choreography - and keeping with the disco theme they showed off their new dance steps in their group song, Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) by the Jackson 5.
Up first is Lil Rounds and Ryan tells her to go to the far end of the stage, and then proceeds to go over and tells her that she will be going home. Lil performs one last time, I’m Every Woman. All the judges agree she did better tonight than last night and that they think she is a good singer and will miss her. If you read my last post… you’ll see I was 100% sure Lil would go tonight.
Now will the second to go be Matt or Anoop?
The first musical guest is Freda Payne singing Band of Gold. Then Ms. Payne introduces Thelma Houston singing Don’t Leave Me This Way. Ms. Houston introduces KC of KC and the Sunshine Band, who sings Get Down Tonight. No disrespect to this great women but if they were contestants they would have already been eliminated. I really did not enjoy this disco flashback.
Back to the result show. Kris Allen is up next – and he is safe. Next is Adam Lambert (going out on a limb and say he is safe), and of course he is, safe that is. Danny’s turn and he is safe… no surprise here either. Ryan has Anoop Desai to stand up next and he is in the bottom three. No surprise since I thought it would be down to Anoop and Matt to go tonight. Next is Allison and Matt – I’m nervous right now that Matt is safe. And lo’ and behold he is… Allison Iraheta is in the bottom three.
Color me disappointed. Allison is such a talented singer and the only female left. My fingers are crossed that it will be Anoop (nothing personal Anoop).
David Archuleta sings his newest song. He is such a cutie… but not impressed with his singing tonight either. He gives a little pep talk to Anoop and Allison, telling them that they can still go far whether or not they win American Idol or not.
Finally, the result… a record 45 million votes and Anoop Desai is going home and Allison is safe. I like Anoop but between the two I think Allison deserved to stay. Good luck Anoop – and I’m sure it isn’t the last we’ll see of you.
Tune in next Tuesday on Fox for American Idol’s top five. And go to AmericanIdol.com to watch last night’s performances.
