A homemade touch to an already prepared food is a delicious way to show your family you care. It also saves you time, giving you more time to spend with your family. Marie Callender’s family size meals are my solution to both.
During the holidays I stock up on Marie Callender’s family size frozen meals. This is my time-saving secret, but I don’t want to keep it to myself, I want to share this life-saver with everyone! If your holidays are anything like mine – CRAZY – then you need all the help you can get, too. With all the work I have to do, the errands to run, and planning to… plan, preparing and cooking a meal is just not what I want to be doing with my time.
Like yesterday, I made the Marie Callender’s chicken pot pie, which by the way, is delicious and homemade tasting all by itself, but I also wanted to add my own homemade touch and made garlic mashed cauliflower to go with it.
Using an ice cream scooper I placed a scoop of the mashed cauliflower on top of a slice of the chicken pot pie and my family loved the homemade touch I added. My son loved how it looked like a slice of “savory” pie with a scoop of ice cream on it.
Go here to get the garlic mashed potato recipe.
You could easily do mashed potatoes, but I had some cauliflower and you really can’t tell the difference.
Family dinner’s are a special time, even if we do have busy schedules, so I try to save time on preparing and cooking dinner and use the extra time for actually sitting around the dining room table enjoying a delicious meal and talking with my family about our day. I think it’s important for of us to slow down, especially during the holidays. Marie Callender’s chicken pot pie is a classic worth slowing down for.
Whether you eat your Marie Callender’s chicken pot with its flaky crust, chicken and vegetables covered in a rich creamy sauce as is, or with your own homemade touch, the homemade goodness will be all your family and friends taste. Holiday entertaining has never been so delicious.
What homemade touches would you add?
