We Made the Move to Grain Free Dog Food with Pinnacle #PinnacleHealthyPets

This post is sponsored by Pinnacle and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping create awareness about Pinnacle’s Newly Formulated Grain Free Dog Food, but Blog by Donna only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Last month I shared with you how a healthy dog starts with good pet nutrition and that we were going to try grain free dog food with Baxter… Well, we did it. We made the move to grain free, limited ingredient dog food with Pinnacle® brand dog food.

It was easy and relatively uneventful. And by this I mean, I was worried that we might have some adverse effects since he does have a sensitive stomach, but with the exception of a looser, softer stool the first two days, he adapted to the change in dog food well. He seems to find the Trout & Sweet Potato Recipe very much to his liking.

According to the Pinnacle website you should switch your dog over to Pinnacle from their current dog food slowly to help avoid disrupting their digestive pattern. They recommend transitioning to Pinnacle dog food  over a 5-day period and by day six your pet will be fully transitioned to Pinnacle…

  • For the first two days, feed your pet 20% Pinnacle® and 80% of the old brand.
  • For the next two days, feed your pet 50% Pinnacle® and 50% of your pet’s old brand.
  • On day 5, feed your pet 80% Pinnacle® and 20% of the old brand.
  • On day 6, you can feel confident in feeding your pet Pinnacle pet food for the rest of your dog’s life.

We followed the above advice and everything went great. As I mentioned above his stool was much softer for the first two days, but he never had diarrhea or vomiting.

Can you tell he can’t wait to get some Pinnacle Dog Food?

Baxter loves Pinnacle grain-free pet food. We love that it is good for him!

Baxter is happy, healthy, and dare I say… even more active if that’s possible. And this makes us happy. We feel good knowing we are providing Baxter with a dog food that contains quality ingredients. And since Baxter has some stomach sensitivities, Pinnacle grain-free has been much better on his digestion. That’s a big plus for all of us.
