When I hear, “I’m bored”, come out of my son’s mouth, I have to resist the urge to turn into MY mother and say, “If you’re bored, I have plenty of chores you can do.” Trust me, I learned quickly to never say I was bored around my Mom. In today’s age of high tech, it’s easy for a child to relieve boredom.
My son tends to get bored on long car drives or road trips, and we did several of them this summer. Luckily, we have ComCast Xfinity On Demand. My son’s favorite gadget is his iPad Mini, so being able to use it to watch the wide selection of children’s programming that ComCast Xfinity TV has to offer is nice.
Not to mention the quiet from the backseat.
My son just grabs his iPad Mini and watches the (Mom-approved) movies and TV shows he loves for a smooth driving experience for me, as well as peace of mind, since I know he’s watching shows I’m okay with.
My son tends to watch Xfinity On Demand most. He loves watching Phineas and Ferb and his new favorite, Angry Birds Toons. He just loves those birds.
And with Comcast Xfinity’s abundance of children’s programs available on multiple screens and devices, he can find something he wants to watch anytime. I know it made this rainy summer more bearable.
I also love that they have over 1,000 downloadable kid-friendly shows with Xfinity Digital TV and Streampix subscriptions. A great way for him to have things to watch when we are on-the-go. Like the beginning of June he was an extra in a movie and spent 3 days (very long, long days) filming. Lots of hurrying up and waiting. Some of the filming took place outdoors in a rural area, so being able to watch his shows on his iPad offline was nice.
The Xfinity TV’s parental controls and how to find age-appropriate programming is my favorite thing about the Xfinity app. Common Sense Media integrated with Xfinity TV to help us make better informed choices about what we, as parents, find appropriate for our children to watch.
It allows Xfinity TV customers to filter our kids’ content by age and most watched on Comcast Xfinity On Demand. Whether you’re watching on a TV, PC, tablet, or smartphone, you’ll be able to access this valuable resource.
As a parent, you can access Xfinity.com/parents, to manage what your kids watch on TV, online and on mobile devices. The site provides families with basic tools such as videos, how-to guides, and the information you’ll need for making the smartest media and technology choice for your child(ren).
Families can learn how to talk about online behavior, explore TV and movie ratings, decide what content is age appropriate, and set controls across a variety of platforms — whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, laptop, PC, or TV.
Check out how you can download the Xfinity TV Player App through the slideshow HERE, so you can bring your content with you on your next long trip.
I know this shows how out of the loop I am with technology (don’t know much about tablets, lol), but that is pretty neat he can watch it on the iPad. 🙂
On Demand is fabulous, I love the apps that let you watch what you want when you want where you want!
Fabulous tool! Our toddler gets bored in the car too. We need to get her a tablet.
I cancelled Comcast after losing a couple channels but that was years ago…these features you’ve mentioned are worth considering a switch back :). Hope you’re having a great day!
We don’t have Comcast but sometimes I wish we did!
Can I just say how jealous I am? We don’t get Comcast out here in the sticks – just 1 cable company and they’re not on my favorite list.
My kids use On Demand so much it’s almost ridiculous. They are watching right now! I like being able to control the content myself, it eases my mind quite a bit.
We have Comcast but have never heard of this!
I hd no idea there was Angry Birds Toon. Don’t tell my kids!
I love our the iPad can become an extension of your TV. There are times I sit next to my hubby and watch my own TV on my iPad.
My daughter doesn’t have a TV in her room so it’s nice for her to be able to take the Ipad into her room and watch her own shows.
