What Should You Ask Before Getting Plastic Surgery

This is a sponsored post. All opinions regarding plastic surgery are 100% my own.

I’ve never undergone plastic surgery before, but it is something I’ve thought about many times. Family and friends that know me really well know that I’ve always wanted rhinoplasty… several things have kept me from having a nose job to date, but I still may do it one day.

And as I’m getting older, and the fine lines and wrinkles are more and deeper, I’m definitely entertaining the idea of a mini-facelift. I wouldn’t be against having a tummy tuck done as well.

If you are thinking about plastic surgery, too, you may be wondering where to start like me, as well.

There are several questions you will want to ask the plastic surgeon you choose, but before I get to them, the absolute most important thing you can do before having plastic surgery is to select the best plastic surgeon. You will need to do your due diligence here. Don’t rush into the decision.

Check out reviews, ask for recommendations, and make sure the surgeon is board certified like Farrior Facial Plastic Surgery.

Now that you’ve chosen your plastic surgeon, here are 5 things you will want to ask during your consultation…

5 Things to Ask Before Getting Plastic Surgery

Ask About Experience

When you apply for a job you are asked about what experience you have that makes you suitable for a position, right? Well, you definitely want a plastic surgeon with experience. So, do not hesitate to ask about their experience. Ask if they have an area of expertise and how many surgeries they have performed.

Ask About Risks and Complications

It’s important to assess the risks and complications of the type of plastic surgery you will be having. There are risks and complications with any surgery, but certain surgeries carry specific ones. Make sure you know what they are and how many times (if ever) your surgeon has run into these risks or complications. This way you can weigh the risks before deciding on your procedure.

Ask About Anesthesia and Anesthesiologist

If you elect to have plastic surgery you will need to be anesthetized. Just like you want your surgeon to be board certified, you also want your Anesthesiologist is certified. Anesthesia is a very critical part of the whole process, so be sure to know who is going to be your Anesthesiologist.

Ask for Before & After Photos

It’s important to see the outcomes and differences in the kind of surgery you are having done. Ask your surgeon to see before after photos, whether it’s a tummy tuck, breast augmentation, or a facelift, you want to see the results of their former patients.

Ask About Recovery

Ask how long the typical recovery time is. When will you be able to go back to work or to normal activities. Are there important instructions for the first 24 – 48 hours. How long will it be before you see your final results. Any questions you have about your recovery, ask them.

There may be other questions you will want to ask, but these five questions are important and will help you get the best experience out of your plastic surgery. I’m not really pro or con plastic surgery… I think it’s a personal decision and if it is something that will give you more self-confidence and you have the money, go for it.
