When Life Takes A Turn…Are You Resilient?

On the Today Show this morning with Kathie Lee and Hoda, they were talking about how some people are more resilient than others.  We all know someone that has a lot of bad things happen to them and they seem to bounce back like it was nothing.

I think this is important!  When someone stays in a ‘woe is me’ or ‘pity party’ mode their situation can’t change.  You are so focused on the negative that positivity can’t get in.

Kathie Lee said something that made a lot of sense.  She was saying that when she had some bad things going on in her life…while she was focusing on herself things just didn’t get better.  However, as soon as she took the focus off of herself her situation improved.

I know we all have bad things happen to us.  Sometimes very tragic things.  I do know from my own experiences and of those around me, that we bounce back from things easier and quicker when we put others before ourselves.

Now, this doesn’t mean to not put yourself first.  I know we mothers need to take care of ourselves, because if we don’t we won’t be able to take care of others.  What I mean to say is, when it comes to bad things in our lives, if we focus on our loved ones, or on others that may be less fortunate then ourselves, what ever is going on in our lives will be less important.

Do you handle stressful situations well?  If you’ll put this theory to the test I bet you will find out you are more resilient then you think!
