Slow Cooker Pork Loin Braised in DairyPure Milk

I’m a busy mom who loves easy meals. I love home cooked food that’s delicious and nutritious, too.

That’s why I love cooking with my slow cooker and braising meat in milk.

When I first heard about braising meats in milk, I was intrigued. I learned that this a very popular way to cook in Italy. Once I tried it for myself, it is the only way I’ll ever braise meats, especially pork and chicken, now. And the only milk I cook with is DailyPure milk.

When I have the time or using thinner cuts of meat, I braise in a pan on the cooktop, but most days I’m too busy and use my crock pot.

When you braise meat in milk you get a richer, more tender meat with a slight sweetness from the milk. I find meats to be more aromatic when braised in milk, too.

Why DairyPure Milk?

I use DairyPure milk because it’s the only milk backed by an exclusive Five-Point Purity Promise. DairyPure milk contains no artificial growth hormones and it’s tested for antibiotics. In fact, it is continually quality tested to ensure purity, and only comes from cows fed a healthy diet that is then cold shipped from your trusted dairy.

You can find DairyPure in the dairy case at your local grocery stores in either whole, 2% reduced fat, 1% low fat, and skim/fat-free milk.

Ingredients

  • 3-pound boneless pork loin
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 Tbs Unsalted Butter
  • 1 Tbs Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Basil
  • 1/2 tsp Thyme
  • 2-3 Bay Leaves
  • 2-3 cups whole DairyPure Milk

Note: For this recipe, it is important that you use DairyPure whole milk.

Directions

Rub salt, pepper, and seasonings onto the pork loin.

Melt butter & olive oil in a pan on high heat and pan sear pork loin for 3-4 minutes on all sides to brown.

Place pork loin in a slow cooker.

Add milk, almost covering the pork and add bay leaves. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-6 hours.

Remove pork loin from slow cooker and discard bay leaves. Slice pork and serve on a platter.

You can drizzle the milk mixture over the pork loin as is, or take the liquid and add it to a saucepan with a little flour to thicken for a creamier sauce.

I made mashed potatoes (using DairyPure) and roasted brussels sprouts, along with a glass of DairyPure 2% milk to go with my braised pork loin but you can make whatever your favorite sides are to go with it. My family loved the pork loin and I’ll be making it often.

I hope you will give meats braised in DairyPure milk a try. I have a feeling you’ll only want to braise in milk from then on. Check out this post I wrote recently about DairyPure with Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.
