Plainsong airs on the Hallmark Channel

Once again the Hallmark Channel will air another good family movie tonight, Plainsong.  I cannot sing the praises of the Hallmark Channel enough – they are committed to airing movies that you can watch with the entire family.  Movies with messages… movies that inspire.

Tonight will be no different.  From hallmarkchannel.com,

Tom Guthrie, a high school history teacher, is faced with raising two young sons after his wife leaves him. Maggie Jones, a fellow teacher, tries to provide comfort and support. When a 17-year old student at their school becomes pregnant, their lives become interlocked with other seeming misfits in their small Colorado town. Gradually, they all grow to need and depend on each other, and ultimately, they build more than a community, they create a family. Stars Aidan Quinn, Rachel Griffiths and America Ferrera.

I am a big fan of Aidan Quinn, one of my favorite movies that he starred in, was Benny and Joon.  And Rachel Griffiths currently stars in Brothers and Sisters, but I loved her in Six Feet Under.

The movie is based on the book Plainsong by Kent Haruf and I thoroughly hope the movie doesn’t disappoint.  Because the book was such a pleasure to read.

It’s a story of seven extraordinary people (some might say misfits) in a small prairie town… I won’t tell you more so you can experience Plainsong for yourself.

Tune in tonight March 21, 2009, to the Hallmark Channel at 9:00 EST.  I really hope you get to watch it and I would love to hear what you think, so leave your thoughts in a comment.
