Keeping Your Home Clean with a Chore Chart & Bissell #sponsored

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of BISSELL Homecare, Inc. for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Who has time to clean? I know with my busy schedule, deadlines, volunteering, my family, and the list goes on and on… it was difficult to keep my home clean.

Honestly, I hate cleaning. There, I said it. I do however, love a clean house. So I have a conundrum.

After many failed attempts of trying to find a plan that worked for us, we finally decided on a chore chart and an allowance.

As you can see, I print out a weekly chart, that I customize to fit my son’s chores and a theme to fit the season. Since it’s officially fall now, this one has a scarecrow on it. He sometimes colors in the picture, this week it did not.

He has two chores that have to be done daily. Feeding our dog and keeping his playroom picked up. His bedroom and bathroom has to be cleaned (a thorough cleaning) once a week, which he does on either Saturday or Sunday, his choice. If he doesn’t do it on Saturday, he has to do it Sunday.

I clean his bedroom and bathroom once a week myself, but he knows it’s his responsibility to do it himself once a week. As he gets older he will have to clean it twice a week himself. His room doesn’t get bad, really, since the only thing he does in it is read and sleep.

He isn’t allowed to eat in his bedroom and he does most everything else in his playroom. Which is why he has to pick up his playroom every evening before his shower/bath. This usually includes running the vacuum cleaner… since he does eat in there.

As you can see from the chart he hasn’t cleaned his bathroom yet this week. Since he doesn’t have school today because of an in-service day, he says he wants to clean it today. Otherwise, he has to clean it tomorrow.

He also has the responsibility of dusting the entire house once a week. Dusting is easy, so it’s something we feel he can handle once a week. In a couple more years I’m going to add vacuuming all the carpeted rooms in our home. He actually enjoys vacuuming.

Speaking of vacuuming….
