I dropped the ball last week… #Mamavation Monday

What a week! Since starting my weight loss journey 19 weeks ago… this is the worst week I’ve had to date. I was so proud of myself for not gaining any weight. Every single week with the exception of two weeks, I lost something. Even if it was just .5 pounds.

Hey, a loss is a loss.

I was bad last week. Not just one day, but 3 days. Saturday alone, I probably ate 3 times my allotted calories. I was gone a lot last week and super busy, so I didn’t exercise either.

Bad, Donna, bad! I’m putting myself in a self-appointed time out. It’s not where I want to be on #Mamavation Monday.

I did a lot of stress eating after my Mac Book Air had an unfortunate accident with a large mug of “hot” chocolate. The guys at the Apple store informed me (several times) that I got a great deal at $825 to repair it, because they’d never seen them replace EVERYTHING before.

Honestly, I think it’s a brand new laptop. They just felt sorry for me since I just got the laptop in November. A deal or not, that’s a lot of money for a practically brand new laptop.

Sigh.

So, as I said, I did a lot of stress eating. Then my brother-in-law and sister-in-law invited us over on Saturday for fish tacos. My b-i-l can grill/cook like there’s no tomorrow. My son says all the time that Uncle Bill needs to go on one of those food cooking challenges on the Food Network, because he would definitely win. I agree.

I ate. And ate. And ate some more.

Sigh.

Dang him for being such a good cook! It was good food, great company, and we had a great time.

Now for the results of today’s weigh — a half a pound gain. A gain! Wh—-at? I felt so disheartened when I saw the .5 gain this morning. Oh, I’m not shocked. Actually, I’m a bit surprised it wasn’t more of a gain. I’m disappointed, though.

  • Week 1 (Oct. 15, 2012) – 166.5 (I was at least 170.5 at my heaviest, but when I officially started this journey, I was 166.5)
  • Week 2 162 lbs – 4.5 pound loss
  • Week 3 160 – 2 pound loss
  • Week 4 157.5 – 2.5 pound loss
  • Week 5 157 – .5 pound loss
  • Week 6 157 – 0 pound loss
  • Week 7 155.5 – 1.5 pound loss
  • Week 8 154 – 1.5 pound loss
  • Week 9 153 – 1 pound loss
  • Week 10 153 – 0 pound loss
  • Week 11 152 – 1.5 pound loss
  • Week 12 151.5 – .5 pound loss
  • Week 13 150 – 1.5 pound loss
  • Week 14 148.5 – 1.5 pound loss
  • Week 15 148 – .5 pound loss
  • Week 16 146 – 2 pound loss
  • Week 17 145.5 – .5 pound loss
  • Week 18 144 – 1.5 pound loss
  • Week 19 142.5 – 1.5 pound loss
  • Week 20 143 – .5 pound gain

But this is a new week. I plan on getting back on track this week. I’ll be diligent about counting the calories and getting in at least 3-days of exercise. My next #Mamavation Monday check in will have better news.

How is your weight-loss journey going? What fitness plans to you have for the coming week?

  1. I haven’t really worked out in a long time. I’ve been so busy, and that’s always the first thing I let slide. I know I shouldn’t though, I need to get back into a proper routine.

  2. You’re doing great! We all need a little break now and then, it helps us stay on track long term!

  3. Don’t dwell on it… get up and try again!! You got this!

  4. Hang in there! Everyone has a bad week when things come up and its just hard. The good thing is you know why you gained and you are determined to not let it happen again. Great attitude and keep up the great work!

Yes, I’m definitely aware of the reason. I really didn’t think about whether I was a stress eater or not, but I see I am. I’m going to incorporate other things into my life to help me deal with stress other than food. 🙂 Thanks!

  5. That’s not too awful of a gain, and you’ll get back on your feet! Have a great week!

  6. Right now my weight sucks, but I JUST got a new yoga DVD and am planning on following the diet plan at least for a little while. 😉 I would love to weigh what you weigh.

  7. I honestly think things like this are good for you during weight loss, as it teaches you how to let it go and keep on rather than getting derailed. You’re rockin’ it!

I do too, Liz. I needed a reminder that I’m a stress eater and I need to be conscious of it. 🙂 Thanks!

  8. Sorry to hear about the computer issues! I’m glad they were able to fix/replace it, even though it did cost a pretty penny. This is the hard part – where you just have to pick yourself up and get back on track. But it’s also the part that builds character and gives you a chance to prove to yourself that you CAN do it. We all have bad days, it just matters how you respond to them! You’ve got this Donna!

  9. Fish tacos may very well be my weakness as well.
We all have “off” weeks. You’ll shed that tiny gain. No worries.
OMG I feel your pain. I once, in slow motion, spilled a glass of sweet tea on my Mac… I still remember running across the kitchen and yelling, “NOOOOOOOOO” I am so glad that you were able to get it fixed.

    Have a better week

I so love fish tacos! 🙂 I cried all night after the hot chocolate incident. I need my laptop for work, so that was part of it, but after just getting it 4 months ago and then to have to turn around and pay that much money to repair it… just made me sick. :/

Thanks… this week is turning out much better. 🙂

  10. UGH about the laptop and you didn’t gain much at all after 19 weeks I think that is still an awesome accomplishment.

  11. Hang in there! I can relate. I wanted to go on a cleanse – only three days and you could actually still eat but only certain things. My husband, out of no where decided to cook. I HAD to eat it… No worries, it happens to all of us. Just keep trying from here on out and don’t waste all the effort you’ve already put into this!

  12. I started my change of eating habits in July at 166.4 and am currently 143! Keep going strong!!!

  13. A loss IS a loss. I am currently hovering around and trying to maintain my goal weight. I love working out and it’s about more than just a number on the scale for me now!

  14. dont beat your self up as long as you jump right back into a routine this week I’m sure you’ll do great. I’ve been bad for about 3weeks now. shame shame
