An Easy Way to Get Auto Insurance Quotes and a Road Trip Checklist

I am a member of the Collective Bias Social Fabric® Community.  Collective Bias has provided me with compensation for my time and effort to evaluate this website.  Participation in this program about auto insurance is voluntary. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

I was visiting family the last few days and reminiscing  about old times, like my most embarrassing moment, an old high school friend I haven’t seen in years, my first car, and getting auto insurance for the first time on my own.

It was a little daunting, to say the least and I’m sure that I did not get the best deal on insurance. Not like today when you have a site like autoinsurance.com that makes finding auto insurance quicker and easier.

I like that there is no cost associated with searching and comparing quotes – you can obtain a quote with no obligation to buy, giving you the control you want without the added pressure to purchase. You get a transparent and unbiased comparison to help you realize significant savings and giving you a greater piece of mind.

We recently bought a new car, so we just renewed our insurance policy adding our new car, but I wanted to see if I could get a better deal on our insurance for when our premium expires. And the only way to really know if you are getting a great deal on your car insurance is to compare multiple quotes.  When I got my quote, it was actually more than what we are paying now. It sure is great to know that we have a competitive rate on our current policy since I was able to compare multiple companies at once.

Even though our present insurance coverage is lower right now than the quote I got, I’ll continue to get a quote annually, especially if we ever get a ticket, have an accident or add a new driver (my tween will one day be a teen). Sigh.

I really liked the Auto Insurance 101 section on autoinsurance.com. As I mentioned above, something like autoinsurance.com would have been so helpful to me when I was getting my first car insurance. I think many first time (and even not first-time) insurance buyers will benefit from the Auto Insurance 101 section.

PLEASE NOTE:  Only individuals located in the following states will be able to have full functionality of the website at this time –  Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi.

Since I was driving to visit my family I also did a ‘road trip checklist’… you should always be prepared when traveling, especially if like me, you are traveling alone.

Here’s a quick checklist for your next road trip:

  • Inspect your tires. Make sure there’s a good amount of tread left and that your tire’s pressure is set to the figure in your owner’s manual.
  • Check and change oil if needed. When you take your car for an oil change or tune up, have them check the other fluids, like wiper fluid and brake fluid.
  • Get your brakes checked. Make sure your brake pads aren’t worn, if so have them replaced.
  • Keep a First Aid kit, jumping cables, spare tire and jack, and flashlight in the trunk at all times.
  • Make sure you have proof of insurance and your car’s registration in your glove compartment. If you’re in an accident or get pulled over for a traffic violation, you definitely want to have them in the car.

Thankfully, I had a pleasant drive to and from my out of state visit, but I would rather be safe than sorry, so I found the above check list useful (I actually didn’t drive our new car, mainly because I’m so used to our 2003 vehicle, and wanted to drive it).

Whether like me you’re looking to compare car insurance rates to find the best deal or you are buying your first car and want to be informed, AutoInsurance.com is a great resource.

  10. Your checklist is great and something we don’t do. We really need to be proactive and have a checklist as I know we don’t have many of the things you mentioned .

  11. I can’t wait until that site works in Nevada, it’s such a pain to get quotes from multiple different websites every six months!

  15. Those are great reminders Donna! I think a lot of people are focused on the fun and the adventure of a road trip and not so much on the safety.

  16. Nice checklist! It’s always good to do good preparation, especially with insurance. The last thing you need if an accident happens is to find out the insurance you have paid an arm and leg for is no good!

  17. I love the road trip checklist! We are constantly on the go and those tips are great!

We’re in the market for new coverage so I’m going to check out their quotes and see if we can’t do a little better than our current rates.

  18. Definitely could have used that road trip checklist a few days ago before we hit the road. I love that there is now an easier way to search for low priced auto insurance rates.

  23. I’m sure we don’t have the cheapest rates around, but we really like the insurance company we use and the service we receive from our agent is fantastic, which keeps us paying the higher premiums.

  24. My road trip checklist is: book plane ticket. 🙂
(I was just asked last week why I hated driving so much!) #client
