A great Halloween movie

One of my favorite things about October, besides the weather and the fall colors, is the Halloween movies. I love horror and thriller movies. Love ’em! Everyone that knows me, knows this. I’ve been drawn to that genre of movie (and books) since I was probably eleven or twelve. Really.

My son seems to be taking after his mommy. He loves reading and watching Goosebumps, and loves Tim Burton. Those movies of his that are appropriate, of course. He does have good taste… Tim Burton is a creative genius.

His favorite movie to watch, especially this time of year, is the Disney movie, “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas”. It’s a Christmas movie gone all Halloween. Tee-Hee.

So I can see my son following in my “creepy” footsteps. Insert evil laugh –> here. What can I say, I have a wicked sense of humor.

I know that I get excited on October 1st for the “31 Days of Halloween” themed channels.  Granted ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ isn’t my kind of scary, but to my son, who is almost 10, it is. I love the movie for far more than the slightly scary factor, though. It is such a well-done movie. Don’t get me wrong it is a bit dark.

My husband and I saw it when it first came out… I think it was 1993. I know it was the early 90s. But we let our son watch it when he was eight. It definitely depends on the child.

Our plans are to watch it Saturday night (for the umpteenth time), after I make some caramel popcorn balls, of course. I think it’s becoming a tradition. I think it’s a pretty good one.

You know, as I was writing this post, I remembered how I wanted to become a horror or suspense writer. Who knows, I just may do it one day.
