We haven’t updated our home in awhile and I’m thinking that this fall I’m going to update a couple of rooms, breathe some new life into them.
Home improvement doesn’t have to be huge major renovations. Sometimes little things can make a big difference. And it’s a smart idea to update your home before you put your home up for sale, too.
You want to put your home’s best foot forward, so to speak, and potential homebuyers want a home that is move-in ready and they don’t have to do home improvement projects on as soon as they move in.
While thinking about what improvements I wanted to make and watching home improvement shows, I realized there are three things that could make a big impact on the look of my home.
3 Home Improvement Ideas
New flooring is a great way to update your whole house or just a room in your home. Flooring will make a noticeable impact and a great resell improvement if you ever want to sell your home.
And there are so many flooring options available to you. Whether you want hardwood or laminate flooring or ceramic tile or carpet, there are so many colors, styles, patterns, and more to choose from.
I want to have hardwood flooring put down in the public living spaces in my home and new carpet in all the bedrooms. So I plan on checking out flooring Nashville when I’m ready to start updating my home.
New flooring is one of the best ways to get more bang for your buck, too, especially if you ever plan on selling your home.
Another way to update any room of your home is through lighting. I’ve updated bathroom lighting and kitchen lighting since we bought our home, but the rest of my house needs new lighting.
You can replace old lighting fixtures with new more modern or contemporary lighting or update with a more traditional look. You can add lamps to give more brightness to a room.
The third way you can change the look of a room is through paint. Painting a room will breathe new life into a room, even if you paint it the same color or similar color. If you want to do a whole new color scheme, you can make a huge difference.
I usually paint the interior of my home every 5-7 years and I think I’m at the seven-year mark, so it’s definitely time. This year I think I’m going to do a whole new color scheme throughout my whole house… from browns to grays. I know grays are difficult – do I want a beige gray or blue gray tones? Decisions, decisions.
Whether you choose one, two, or all three of these home improvement ideas, I think you will find these ideas will change the look of any room in your home. All three of these updates will change a room from the top (lighting) to the bottom (flooring)… painting your walls is in between.
I know I’m excited about getting new flooring, lighting, and painting my home this fall.
