If you're a regular reader here, you know I love family movie night. It's a special night (or two) a week that is set aside when my husband, son, and I can enjoy a good movie together. I don't have to worry about language, sexually explicit scenes or inuendos, or violence. Wholesome TV. If there's a lesson to be learned in there… all the better.
This past weekend I had the pleasure of an early viewing of Walmart and P & G's newest family movie night movie, Who Is Simon Miller? that premieres Saturday night, August 6, 2011 on NBC at 9:00 pm EST. I won't give anything away, but I think you'll like it. I know I did. I will add that it's not necessarily a movie that will hold my eight-year-old son's attention. All the previous Walmart and P&G Family Movie Night movies, did hold his attention.
But with that being said, there is intrique, espionage, and a strong sense of family in this movie. Moms and dads will enjoy it and I think kids over the age of ten will, as well. Here's a synopsis from FamilyMovieNight:
Like most families, the Millers have their challenges. Simon’s (Loren Dean) frequent business trips have created some distance between him and the rest of the family, leaving Meredith (Robyn Lively) stretched and struggling to keep things together. Daughter Sarah, an 18-year-old honor student, has recently gotten herself into trouble at school while son Kevin, 15, struggles to engage with anything outside of a video game…
But these issues all prove to be trivial when Simon goes missing. Sensing something is not right, the family frantically searches Simon’s office for information. Discovery of a stash of passports, all with Simon’s picture but each with a different alias, reveals that their father has been keeping more than a few secrets. In a frantic phone call, Simon urges the family not to tell anyone of his disappearance, not even the authorities, right before the line goes dead. Who is Simon Miller? And what exactly has he gotten himself – and now his family – into?
One of my favorite actresses is Christine Baranski, and she plays a rather out of character… character, in this movie. And my favorite character in the movie is the son, Kevin. I can picture my son being somewhat like his character.
And check out the trailer:
So grab your popcorn, gather around the TV, and enjoy Who Is Simon Miller? this Saturday night. I KNOW who Simon Miller is… and I'll let you see if you think he's good or bad.
Be sure to like Family Movie Night on Facebook, to keep up with all the great family movies.
I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of P&G and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
