The Dos and Don’ts of Marriage Proposals

Hearts for Do's & Don't Marriage Proposal GP

Proposing marriage to your girlfriend is an exciting event for both of you. Delivering the perfect proposal requires planning and forethought. Follow a few of the dos and don’ts of proposing marriage to your future wife.

Don’t

Propose without a plan. You only have one shot to get this right. Make plans for delivering this important question on the right day at the right time. Don’t pick a time that will be stressful for her, like right before a big project at her job or a stressful family event.

Don’t

Propose without a ring. Proposing without a ring shows your girlfriend that you are not serious about the proposal. You can find great Shane Co. engagement rings that reflect the love you have for each other. Select a ring for your proposal that you know she will love.

Do

Tailor your proposal to her personality. If she is a quiet, reserved and private person, she might not appreciate a proposal on the JumboTron at the big game. If she is an outgoing and over-the-top person, she may prefer the pomp and circumstance of a public proposal.

Don’t

Spoil the surprise. One of the best parts of a marriage proposal is the element of surprise. If you tell all of her friends and family, you increase the likelihood that someone will spill the beans.

Do

Make your proposal special. Resist the urge to simply recycle some cheesy marriage proposal idea that you have seen on television or in the movies. Make yours special.

Deliver a proposal she will never forget. Find the right ring today.

  1. I’m going to have to “casually” print this and tape it to the fridge. I’m still waiting after 8 years…

  2. My husband didn’t do too bad with the marriage proposal, it was the marriage he failed in…lol.

  3. Haha my husband did all the wrong things! We were out partying and I went to sleep and he woke me up at 4:30 and asked me to marry him I said yes if I could go back to sleep. No ring. But we married 3 months later and I am very happily married ๐Ÿ™‚ he is an amazing day!!

  4. I love watching all the proposal videos on youtube, so many creative ways people are proposing now and the best part is that they make them so meaningful and plan the whole thing out.

  5. My hubby called me at work one day and said, “Let’s do this after work.” I had to ask what “this” was. He said, “Go get you a ring.” That men, is how not to propose. Lucky for him I loved him enough to overlook that. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Great tips. My husband proposed in a very sweet way where it was just the two of us, it wasn’t some big thing but just right.

  7. My husband did his the best he could because I already knew that he got the ring (I picked it out since he sucks at picking our jewelery). It was getting sized and we were suppose to go pick it up but instead he left work early (he had a reason why he left early so no suspicion), picked it up and was making dinner when I got home. During dinner I complained about my day (it was a rough one) and after play fighting (with words) he proposed…..lol
