Microsoft Research WorldWide Telescope Spring Beta Open To Public

By: Donna Chaffins | Date: May 14, 2008 | Categories: Education, Favorites

Homeschool moms, dads and teachers you have to check out my latest find.  Microsoft Research Worldwide Telescope Spring Beta is now open to the public.  The WorldWide Telescope (WWT) is a Web 2.0 visualization software environment that enables your computer to function as a virtual telescope — bringing together imagery from the best ground and space-based telescopes in the world for a seamless exploration of the universe.  The WWT is an amazing piece of software that will bring our Galaxy right into your home.

Your children will be in awe and love the WWT.  When my son saw it, he literally said “Wow” and wanted to check it all out!  The WWT is a great astronomy resource and you may learn a thing or two along with your kids.

According to their website, “Microsoft Research is dedicating WorldWide Telescope to the memory of Jim Gray and is releasing WWT as a free resource to the astronomy and education communities with the hope that it will inspire and empower people to explore and understand the universe like never before.”

Download it free at the WWT site.  Go explore the universe and let your children see it in a new and exciting way!  If you check it out, let us know what you think of the WorldWide telescope.  Hope to hear from you!  Enjoy Life!!!
