Keeping Kids Happy

I love my kids and I want them to have all the best. My husband and I really try our best to provide them with what they want and need, but it has become a challenge since they are getting older. Our oldest is 16 years old and is hounding us about getting her a car. We have explained to her that she will need to get a job if she wants a car, but for some reason she feels like we should just get one for her and she shouldn’t have to pay for a thing. It’s crazy how much things have changed since I was 16! My parents would have laughed in my face!

On top of that, our 12 year-old keeps on asking us to get satellite TV like her friend Brittany has at her house. At least this is a more realistic and attainable thing. We were lucky to find SatelliteTVFamily.com which has some great rates. At least we have the ability to make one of our children happy! I know that there is absolutely no way our older daughter will get her car on our dime.

  1. It’s hard when they want things that we can’t get for them. Kids just get more expensive as they get older.

  2. I’m not looking forward to the teen years.. going to treasure the baby moments!! 🙂

  3. Things have definitely changed since I was 16!

  4. It’s tough and pricey regardless of what stage of life they’re in.

  5. Television is so over rated these days and I swear if I ever find a service that’s cheaper than comcast i’m gone

  6. Our kids are 3 and 4, and we are starting to think about whether or not we will give them a car on our dime when the time comes. I am thinking no way. I bought my first car, with MY heard earned money. Hubs is thinking we should help. His parents helped him. At least we have a few years before we have to come to an agreement. LOL.

  7. kids are always expensive. Why do we have them?? lol.

  8. Way to go mom!! I know it can be hard to say no to your teenage kids, but they will thank you in the end. Our oldest daughter got a job and pays for her own electronics and she is so much more responsible because of it.

And hey, if at least one of your kids is happy then you are doing a great job!

  9. Haha! love reading the comments above! Sounds like you are doing a great job.

  10. Keeping kids happy and occupied seems to be a job all by itself lol.

  11. I remember when my dad bought me my first car. It was really cheap, and didn’t look pretty. But I loved it.
