Earth Day is April 22nd, and I have a tip I use all year round that I would like to share with you. The tip is to quit spending your money on chemical household cleaners! You might be surprised at the things you can use to clean with that are environmentally friendly and safer to use inside your home, especially if you have children and pets. I will start with the bathroom. Today, I will tell you about some of the things that you probably already have around the house that you can use to clean your bathrooms.
- Hard water stains – Calgon bubble bath, vinegar and lemon juice. They are safer and cheaper!
- Soap scum – Use white vinegar or lemons.
- Caulking and mildew – Rubbing alcohol and vinegar. If you feel you need to use bleach, use hydrogen peroxide bleach and avoid chlorine bleach.
- Toilet bowl – Pour in a ½-cup hydrogen bleach and let sit overnight and flush with white vinegar.
- Sinks and counters – Use baking soda and lemon juice.
- Glass shower doors – White vinegar.
- Chrome bathroom fixtures – Use dry baking soda and a dry cloth to polish chrome.
- Mirrors – Use same part water and white vinegar in a spray bottle to clean mirrors/windows.
- Bathtub inserts – After you clean your bathtub, use furniture polish on your bathub inserts. It helps control soap film and scum.
We can keep our homes and environment safer for our children and ourselves if we stop using deadly chemicals. Just think of how all the chemicals could harm your children! If you stop using chemicals, you’ll also save lots of money! This is part one of a three part series, so check back! If you have some house cleaning tips using either natural products or things you might have in your pantry or even fridge, let us know about it. Hope to hear from you! Enjoy life!!!
