4 Tips for Finding a WorkOut Buddy

If you are struggling to find the motivation you need to make it through your workouts, do not despair. You may be able to find the motivation and support you need with a workout buddy. Workout partners are great to have because they can help you to overcome challenges that you normally would not be able to overcome on your own. Here some suggestions for you to use while you are searching for a new workout partner.

Start With Your Inner Circle

The first place you should look for a new workout buddy is within your inner circle of family and friends. These are people that you are already familiar with so you are less likely to feel awkward or uncomfortable when you tell them about your fitness goals. Next, try placing an ad in the classifieds section of your local newspaper or ask your neighbors or fellow members of your neighborhood watch. Your openness about your fitness goals may encourage and motivate some of your friends, family and colleagues to become your workout partner.

Go Online

The internet has paved the way for people to communicate with each other from anywhere in the world. There are clubs, social media groups, chat rooms, and other avenues for you to use to meet and network with new people regardless of what your goals and interests are. There is no better way for you to find a new workout partner or two than to go online. There are plenty of websites and social groups for you to join that can match you up with like-minded people who are also looking for someone to workout with.

As technology continues to advance, it seems that each day a new mobile app is launched. Harness the power of your mobile device and use it to your advantage. There are plenty of apps that you can use to keep you accountable and motivated during your workouts. Some apps enable you to keep a daily diary of your fitness stats and accomplishments so that you can share them with others and challenge yourself even more. You can also use apps to network and find new workout buddies that have similar interests as you do.

Join a Gym

Gym memberships are great as they provide you with unlimited access to workout equipment and resources that you normally would not have. They also provide you with the opportunity to enroll in classes, work with personal trainers, and network with other fitness minded individuals.

While the mere idea of searching for a workout buddy may seem like a challenge, it is really quite easy to accomplish once you get started. You’d be surprised at how many potential partners you can find.

    I like working out to videos at home. That’s pretty much the only thing I stick with. If I have to leave my house, I just won’t. lol

    Online and fitness apps have really helped me stay accountable. I have a lot of good friends that don’t live close by that we cheer each other on through a Facebook group.

  6. Me personally I don’t want a partner to work out. I move at a pace that I like to keep and another person usually doesn’t keep up that drives me crazy!! If I could find someone at more my speed a workout partner would be great!

    A gym buddy is a great thing to have. I tend to be more accountable if I know someone is paying attention to me and whether I show up to the gym or not. I tend to find someone who already goes to the gym, makes it easy since we both go to the same gym, at the same times.
