30 Days About Me Day 5: Anything clever you can think to say…

30 Days About Me
It's day 5 of my 30 Days About Me challenge from A Daily Dose of Toni. And today's topic is, "My favorite quote."
I love quotes (and yes, I know the correct word is quotations… but generally everyone uses the term quotes, interchangeably). I often put a quote as my Facebook status. I tweet out quotes on Twitter. I've even done several blog posts here with my favorite quotes.

The thing that is so great about quotes, is that they can motivate and inspire. One quote can give a person that push to complete a task. Or the strength to get through something they've been struggling with… it really is amazing how influential a quote can be.

Oh, and the complete quote in my title above is, “Anything clever you can think to say, somebody’s already said it better!” I can't find who actually said it, but it has been attributed to Mark Twain. It definitely sounds like him. But if you know who did say it, please let me know.

Okay, down to business. But once again, I can't narrow it down to just one. So without further ado, here are a few of my favorite quotes:

Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. ~Thomas Edison

Having a positive attitude may not get you what you want, but it will annoy enough people to be worth the effort. ~Unknown

If you don’t make mistakes, you’re not working on hard enough problems. ~Frank Wilczek

Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction. ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain. ~Bob Marley

Never explain yourself. Your friends don’t need it, and your enemies won’t believe it. ~Unknown

I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. ~Mark Twain

Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. ~Elmer G. Letterman

Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional. ~Unknown

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. ~Abraham Lincoln

Fairy tales do not tell children that dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children that dragons can be killed. ~G.K. Chesterton

Nothing is so strong as gentleness and nothing is so gentle as real strength. ~Ralph W. Sockman

I don’t want people who want to dance, I want people who have to dance. ~George Balanchine

Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain. ~Author Unknown

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. ~Plato

What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal. ~Albert Pine

Jenny: Do you ever dream, Forrest, about who you’re gonna be?
Forrest Gump: Who I’m gonna be?
Jenny: Yeah.
Forrest Gump: Aren’t-aren’t I going to be me?

There you have just a few of my favorite quotes. I'd love to hear yours, so please share it with us!
