Sometimes, it can be difficult to lose the last few pounds you need in order to reach your target weight. As much as we try to diet to lose weight, when it comes time to go out into the world, you live with the body you have.
So when all else fails, it's about time you learn how to look thinner by choosing what you wear.
Here are a few great tips to keep you looking thin while you get thin.
1. Monochromatic color scheme
Dressing up using just one color, from your top all the way to your footwear, will help you look slimmer. Contrary to popular belief, it's not only black that makes this possible. You can try anything dark in color, such as navy blue, charcoal, burgundy, deep red, dark green, or violet.
Since dressing up using only one color can sometimes be so dull, you can also add jewelry pieces or scarves to accessorize your outfit without drawing attention to any of your problem areas.
2. Well-fitted clothes
Wear clothes that fit you perfectly. Clothes that are too tight or too loose will always make you look fatter than what you really are.
If you see bulges or cellulite seem to be visible, it only means your clothes are too tight. Tight clothes only reveals your figure flaws.
If, however, you do not see any curves, your clothes may be too loose. Although it's very tempting to wear oversized clothes in the hope of hiding flabby body areas, this technique will really not work, especially if you want to look thinner.
For some women, especially those who are petite, it may be difficult to find clothes which fit perfectly well. In such cases, alterations might be necessary.
3. Vertical lines
Vertical lines not only make you look thinner, they also make you seem a lot taller too. This is because vertical lines draw the eyes up and down, rather than side to side, therefore making you look leaner and longer.
Vertical lines need not necessarily be made of stripes. They can come in other forms as well, such as in seams, in details that appear vertical, and vertically paneled fabric.
However, you must be careful in wearing stripes. Keep it simple. Don't wear too many stripes. For instance, if you are wearing a striped top, use plain pants or plain top with striped pants. Never wear both at the same time. That will be too overwhelming.
