St. Patrick’s Day is one of those fun holidays. I can spend hours reading all the fun St. Patrick’s Day quotes and sayings. And a lot of them are inspirational, too. I love all the green, and who doesn’t love shamrocks and leprechauns?
I also love finding St. Patty’s Day food ideas. I usually make corn beef and cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day, but love to shake it up a little with a different St. Patrick’s Day dessert or sweet treat. Something my husband and I love is the combination of sweet and salty.
Since we love pretzels I thought dipping them in white candy melts with some St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles would be a great treat and get us in the mood to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day on March 17th.
St. Patrick’s Day Candy Coated Pretzel Rods – White with Sprinkles
Materials:
- 1 Bag pretzel rods
- 1 Bag white Wilton candy melts
- 1 Container Wilton St. Patrick’s Day Sprinkles
- Wax paper
- Plates for drying pretzels on
- Deep bowl
- Spoon
Instructions:
Step 1: Place the bag of white candy melts into the bowl and microwave for 1 minute and stir. Continue to microwave the candy melts for 30 seconds at a time and then stir until they are completely melted.
Step 2: Line a plate with wax paper for the pretzels to dry on.
Step 3: Hold a pretzel rod over the bowl of candy melts angled down. Start spooning white candy over the end of the pretzel rod, you can choose how much of the pretzel you want to cover in the candy.
Step 4: Shake off the excess candy over the bowl, and place the pretzel rod on the wax paper lined plate to dry.
Step 5: Sprinkle each pretzel rod with the St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles before it is fully dry. I found that doing it this way was much easier than trying to add the sprinkles while holding the pretzel rod in the air.
This is a great treat to let the kids help make… it’s easy, and turns out pretty. There’s really no way to mess it up.
Step 6: When dried completely, enjoy your pretzel rods, place in a container for storage, or place in clear candy bags for gifting.
Green has always been my favorite color so having a day where I see all the different shades of it wherever I go makes me smile. That’s always been my favorite part of the day.
