Living Out Loud Premieres on the Hallmark Channel

The Hallmark Channel celebrates Mother’s Day starting May 2nd for "Mom-O-Rama" week, which includes the premiere of their latest original movie, Living Out Loud.  Through May 10, for "Mom-O-Rama" week Hallmark will feature a movie for moms each night.  What a great way to start "Mom-O-Rama" week!  Here is what Hallmarkchannel.com says about Living Out Loud,

Emily Marshall (Gail O’Grady) is a high school chorus teacher who is all about helping others achieve their goals, having abandoned her own years before as a youthful fantasy.  But a visit to the doctor throws Emily for a loop when she is diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. She starts chemotherapy treatment right away, leaving her husband Brad (Michael Shanks) to take care of Melissa (Jessica Amlee) and Ben (Alex Ferris), their children he’s been too busy with work to get to know.  Through her treatment sessions, Emily befriends a number of other women, including Connie (Babz Chula), whose strong will and optimistic attitude inspire Emily to start writing songs again, a hobby she let go of when she started her family.  In turn, Emily’s newfound strength becomes an inspiration to those around her.

Living Out Loud stars Gail O’Grady, most famous for her role on NYPD Blue and Michael Shanks who played Dr. Daniel Jackson on the long-running science fiction television series Stargate SG-1.  I’m a big fan of both Gail O’Grady and Michael Shanks but have to say I’m an even bigger fan of Stargate SG-1.

I will say once again what a fan I am of the Hallmark Channel.  As anyone who frequents my blog on a regular basis can attest.  I love that they show quality family movies.  Movies that inspire us.

In fact, Gail O’Grady said, what surprised her was how ultimately uplifting a film with a breast cancer storyline can be.  From Hallmarkchannel.com,

“What was so inspiring about working in ‘Living Out Loud’ is how much knowledge I was able to absorb about the disease, the treatment, what the victims and their families have to endure. I learned just how painful it is emotionally for everyone in the breast cancer sufferer’s life. It’s such a huge drain, like a bomb that’s been dropped on everyone’s life.”

If you or someone you know has breast cancer, I think you will be inspired by Living Out Loud.  So tune in tonight, May 2, 2009 at 9:00 pm EST on the Hallmark Channel and watch Living Out Loud.

I’d love to hear what you think of the movie.  I’ll have my popcorn and be curled up in my favorite chair watching it too.

  1. What was the song that was sung at the end. Can I find this?

  2. I love this movie, I lost a dear friend from breast cancer and Gail O’Grady reminds me so much of her. I want to purchase this movie but, i cannot find it anywhere. I work for Saint Francis Hospice for 21years and this movie has helped me to get through all the pain and suffering that, I’ve seen over the years. Is there anyway that, I can get this movie. Gail O’Grady is one of my favorite actresses. When a love one dies life goes on and, you take from it all the good memories of you of that person. For God has designed the mind to be that, way. So I thank you, so very much for all the wonderful things that, you do. Warm Aloha, bj Hookano
