It is every parent’s dream to see their children do better than them. This does not just happen on accident or overnight. You have to work hard to give your children the hold they need to succeed. The best way to help them get ahead is to help them do well in school. Here are the five essential tools that every parent needs to help their children do well in school.
A Library Card
If you want your child to do well in school, you should instill in them a lifelong love of reading. You need to read to them every day (in their younger years), and you need to encourage them to start reading as early as possible. You can help them discover their love of reading at the local library. Libraries have many programs that encourage kids to read. Get them a library card before they start school, and they will have a giant leg up on their classmates.
A Computer
Computers are a central part of modern life. Don’t fight it. Instead, embrace the computer as a learning tool. Buy your kids educational games that will help them learn and stay engaged. Show them educational websites that make learning fun. If you use a computer right, it can be a very powerful learning device for your children. Infinite amounts of knowledge are at the click of a button.
Sports Equipment
One of the biggest problems with today’s kids is their lack of exercise. Kids who do not get regular exercise under-perform in school. You can boost your child’s grades by encouraging them in any sport they show an interest in. Get them the equipment they need to play sports, and you will help to increase your kid’s chances of doing well in the classroom.
Microscope
If you have a kid who shows interest in exploring the world, you should encourage this. You may just have a budding scientist on your hands. A Good Desk
Children need a special study space to call their own. They will do much better with their homework if they have such a space. You need to give your kid a desk that they can call their own. Outfit it with all of their study supplies like pens, pencils and paper. Don’t forget to add a plant as well. Your child will do much better in school if they have a proper study area.

This is a good list. I haven’t heard of purchasing a microscope for kids at home before today. I guess it makes sense if you have a child that is very interested in science. I think a graphic calculator is also a must once your child gets to high school.

I didn’t have a computer growing up. Not even in high school. I had to use an old typewriter. But nowadays its essential to have one.

We have most of those, no microscope but we have many computers and the kids have all been to the library. I hope that kids don’t use just electronic books these days and still use old fashion paper books.
