After Liposuction, Exercise Keeps the Fat Off

Liposuction is a very common and popular procedure that involves a surgeon removing fat cells that are right under a person’s skin. These types of fat cells are also known as subcutaneous fat cells.

I have a couple of friends who have had liposuction and they are very happy with the results. I’ve entertained the idea of liposuction myself and have been doing a lot of research… Because if I’m going to go to great lengths to have a surgery like liposuction, I want to make sure I keep the weight off.

Although liposuction is an effective way to help a person lose weight immediately, it’s vital that people who have undergone liposuction exercise properly after their procedure; if you don’t exercise properly and have a healthy post-liposuction lifestyle, you could become more unhealthy than you were before the procedure.

After Liposuction…

Why Exercising is Important

A lot of people may believe that liposuction is all that they need to do, and after they have the procedure, they no longer have to worry about eating right and starting an exercise regimen. This is not the case. Exercising after the procedure is actually even more important than exercising before it.

People who get liposuction and then don’t exercise or eat right will gain weight again. The liposuction procedure causes a person’s body to gain a different type of fat.

The fat that is gained is called visceral fat. This fat actually accumulates around a person’s organs and is much more dangerous than the subcutaneous fat that is removed by liposuction.

Visceral fat gives off dangerous biochemical substances that could cause a variety of problems. Some of the problems caused by visceral fat include high cholesterol and liver problems. People also have a higher chance of developing certain types of cancer and diabetes.

This is why it’s so important for people who have had liposuction to make sure they exercise and eat a healthy diet.

Exercise Regimen

When you’ve had liposuction done, you won’t be able to exercise normally for a couple of weeks. However, you can do short, easy exercises during those two to three weeks of recovery. Make sure not to engage in any exercise for at least a day or two after the procedure. Easy exercises to do during the recovery period are short walks or simple work around the house.

After you have fully recovered, you should start a proper exercise regimen. In order to prevent the accumulation of visceral fat around the organs, there are many types of exercises that can be done. The most effective exercises are jogging and walking.

These are cardiovascular exercises that help increase the level of oxygen in the blood to burn calories faster. By exercising approximately 30 minutes for at least three to four days a week, people can stop visceral fat from forming. Other types of fat can also be stopped from accumulating as well.

Toning your body also can help reduce the growth of visceral fat. Light weightlifting and other toning exercises can make your body healthier while giving you an even more attractive shape and figure.

And yoga and pilates are a great way to elongate your body helping it to look its leanest.

Eating Healthy

Another way to prevent visceral fat from forming around organs and causing problems is to eat a healthy diet. A diet that is full of saturated fats and simple carbohydrates will cause you to gain weight very quickly, and a lot of this weight will be visceral fat. To prevent this, you should eat lean meats like fish or chicken.

There are several types of vegetables and fruits you can eat to get the nutrients you need; they are low in calories and have little to no fat, so eating these healthy foods will help prevent the formation of visceral fat.

Avoid eating large amounts of sweets that are full of sugar and fat. Also, fatty meats should be avoided.

Exercising is effective in stopping the formation of visceral fat, but eating right can help immensely, both keeping you healthy.

LOL! Honestly, I want to like exercising, but I just don’t. It’s hard to find the time, and I hate sweating. 😀 I do love dancing, though.
